Hoyt Arboretum GPS and Orienteering Event (Portland, OR)
May 07 2005

Hoyt Arboretum and Washington Park make up a classic venue for orienteering. Near the core of the metro area, the park offers idyllic paths for beginning courses and areas of old growth forest for features-rich, advanced bush bashing.
This year's event will be our second annual GPS/Orienteering meet, with two different ways to find the controls. Bring a portable GPS unit and try the GPS course, where you get just a blank map and a list of coordinates and find the controls using readings from your portable GPS unit. Or choose one of several standard orienteering courses, from beginning to advanced, and find the controls with map and compass.
