HOOD RIVER SCORE-O September 26th 2009 Great weather, beautiful scenery, happy exhausted participants, and plenty of challenge and humor marked this event. Thank you all so much for coming. Geraint Edmunds's map work was much appreciated. Results, Comments and Apologies follow. TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE 477 - IF you visited all 75 controls (all 40s controls scored 4, all 100s controls scored 10, etc.) AND you got the answers correct. The scorer was VERY liberal. I can't believe you urbanites don't recognise a willow tree! John got points for detailed description on control 51 "one or two scrubby little trees and bushes" but not for his essay for control 50 - "purple side gravel, old grey speckled pavement, freshly painted offside, rumba strips" He cannot have seen the sign "grooved" pavement! And Julie I gave you your brown post!!! Control 101 was not there. The red and white sign "launch" and all the boats had been removed as the season is apparently over. You got your 10 points if you had obviously been there. Sorry for the stress I caused! Anndy has the prize for best guessing. Her most creative effort was "No spitting in the Harbor" Two Hour Score-O 105 Glen Cafferty 104 Sue Merfeld and Suzy Barnes Four Hour Score-O 464 Mal Harding 462 Brian Russell (3hrs 13mins only- left early to get to work for 4.30) 426 John Bartholomew 364 Julie Pohl and David Rogers 346 Mike Poulsen 330 Ellen Boomer 319 Stephen Gustafson and Aaron Klarenbach 306 Terrence Pratt 303 Robin Virgin and Rick Gustafson 277 Anndy Wiselogle 249 Pauline Duffy 150 Vanessa Blake (Thank you for organizing us) Interesting GPS data From Dave and Julie -8 3/4 miles, 16800 steps, 800 calories From Brian - 22.83k, 7.67kmh, 631m up and down See you all soon, Rick and Jill McBee |
