CROC Members Training: Mt. Tabor Memory-O

Training Series Info

Build fitness and sharpen your navigating skills (or just have fun) at these training events. Orienteering courses will focus on a particular skill such as close map-reading, remembering what you've seen on the map, and keeping track of where you are. The training series events are only for CROC members. There is no charge.

Memory-O

Your mission is to complete the course by only studying the map at each control.  Take a good look at your map and memorize useful information that may be helpful to find the next control (buildings, roads, powers lines, contours, vegetation, etc.).  Leave the map behind and attack!!!  The next control will have the next leg of your course and repeat.  If you forget where your next control is, you can always go back to the last one and look at the map again.

Your course will get progressively more challenging as you hone in your memory skills.  This training will be great for beginners to advanced orienteers.

Where to Meet

Meet at the volcano's amphitheater. Start times begin at 10 AM. (See map below)

Cost: No charge for CROC Members

RSVP

RSVP to Sue Grandjean so we'll be sure to have enough maps for your mission. Don't forget and we'll see you there!

More about the training series

Training events will be held monthly in seasonal groups. Watch the events page for the latest information.

The training series is for club members only, who want to improve their orienteering skills, improve fitness and do some socializing. There is no cost for members for these informal events. Results will not be posted, but if you want to keep track of your time, bring a timing device and a scoring sheet will be available.
Creating an event offers valuable training itself! If you'd like to host an event, or have other questions, please contact Virginia Church.
